I just had to blog this evening (even though I should be editing) because ‘style’ has come up on three separate occasions in the last 48 hours!
In the post office today I spotted a girl (well, a woman as she is now) who I recognised as the prettiest girl in my year at senior school. She still had her long blonde hair and slim figure yet…she looked much older than me for sure! Yes, I was slightly smug about this…does that make me horrid or honest?!
Part of looking ‘old’ was actually down to her hairstyle and what she was wearing. In her hair she had the grown-up version of a JoJo bow and it was awful – I cringed for her. She wore a jacket similar to the one my mum and aunt wear when out and about in casual gear – they are 90 and 88 respectively – and trousers that looked like my other aunt has worn (she is 100 in October). I really was shocked and wondered how this person had changed so much from a trendy and beautiful young girl to a woman dressing older than her years?
In contrast, I noticed a guy at the airport yesterday dressed like a badly-dressed-teenager. This guy was possibly between 35-45; I felt compelled to take a photo in case any readers of my blog dress like this and don’t realise what they actually look like!
This morning, on a walk to spot our village peacock, my g.son, Myles, said, ‘Katie, you need to pull your t-shirt down as it look’s cooler’, (Katie, my g.daughter had tucked her t-shirt into her elasticated-top jeans) to which Katie replied,
‘But the top of my jeans itch me’.
Myles then said, ‘Well, try tucking it in and then pulling some of it out so it looks better’.
I had to smile to myself. He had no idea of my two encounters with ‘uncool’ characters over the last 48 hours but, my, that boy has style!
