A coat for every season?
Oh my, it appears Autumn has truly arrived and I’ve no idea which coat to wear! Having spent most of my time wearing summer clothes over the last five years (due to our adventures in Europe, and then this years amazing summer) I have a wardrobe full of shorts, t-shirts, summer dresses but very little Autumn-suitable clothes.
I do have winter clothes (and clothes I can layer) as we spent two winters on the narrow-boat. It is, ‘Which coat?’, to wear in between summer and winter that I am struggling with.
When we took all of our possessions out of storage a couple of months ago I had great fun discovering clothes I had forgotten I had. In fact, I’ve had several people recently say, ‘You look nice today’, making me realise they have mostly seen me in my ‘casual-holiday-or-boating’ clothes, so perhaps forgotten I used to dress well – most of the time.
Sorting out my wardrobe has been pretty interesting. I found two or three spring coats/macs, several winter coats – ranging from a lovely pea-coat, a good full length coat, a smart, short cream coat and a couple of those padded jackets in navy and brown – but I don’t have an Autumn coat. I remember sending one or two to charity shops so am left thinking, ‘Do I buy a new one or do I wing it with chunky knits and go straight from summer to winter wear? If you are thinking, ‘Can’t you wear a spring coat because the temperature in early Autumn and Spring is similar’, then, no I can’t. My spring coats just don’t look right in my opinion – what do you think?
