Feeling Domesticated!
Don’t laugh at the title of this post – although, if you know me well, I am confident you will have had a giggle to yourself.
I feel as though it’s ages since I took time to blog (or write/edit anything at all) but that may be because I couldn’t focus on anything whilst the cottage was in such a mess, and latterly I’ve been busy sorting out, so apologies if you thought I had given up: I’m back!
Anyway, the cottage is finished apart from a few last bits and pieces – I soooo need shelves in the laundry room and office/spare bedroom.
My O.H. and I have spent this week sorting through mounds of ‘stuff’ – no other word for it – while deciding which can go to another home and which things we desperately want to keep.
I am pretty good at paring back and only keeping what I deem ‘beautiful or useful’ but (T) likes to keep anything that ‘may come in useful this century or next’. Hmmmm.
Anyway, feeling that the conservatory is now restored to its original use – as opposed to a saw-mill, place to store tools, dumping ground for other temporarily-homeless furniture – I realised the sofas need a good clean: I will get a company in but noticeing some water-stains (from the leaking roof) I decided I would have a go at removing them with white vinegar and water.
I then decided to try growing next years Sweat Peas from this years pods, so that was my next task. I confess I have never done this before; I would usually just purchase new plants but I am trying to ‘buy less and re-use’ nowadays.
Hence, here I am, cooking dinner, cleaning cushions and drying out Sweet Pea seeds. In addition I have cleared the garden and decking of leaves, had a really good tidy up of the courtyard area, put some bulbs in for next spring (again, something I never had time for when I worked silly-o-clock hours), and potted up some pansies and violas over the last couple of days.
I have to say I am feeling rather smug and very domesticated!
It won’t last long but hey, variety is the spice of life and very much this Girl(s) Thing!
Hugs,
Leigh
PS – Some pics of the cottage – definitely need shelves to get rid of some of the ‘stuff’ left without a home. Please comment if you agree and maybe my O.H. will take notice!!! Yeah, right…
