All sorts…
I haven’t blogged for a while. Not that I haven’t had anything to say but all sorts of things have been going on – and some of them not so good.
That might surprise some readers. You will only ever see positive posts on SM from me, and when I’m asked, ‘How are you?’ I always put a positive spin on things.
Luckily I’m naturally positive, but if you are someone who looks at SM and thinks, ‘Everyone else’s life is brilliant. Everyone else is happy and appear to have fantastic families and friends’, don’t be duped. They are possibly simply doing what most of us do and sharing the fun times. After all, who wants to see moans and groans on SM? I don’t!
We all have ups and downs. I just don’t care to share my downs – apart from with a couple of extremely close friends. Family would only worry and I don’t need to worry about others worrying about me. So, yes, life is tough just now, but I’m doing my best to keep all the balls in the air and not let it get to me too much. Saying that I could punch a wall this morning! Nuff said.
Boots.
Kitten heels, Chelsea boots, Knee highs, mid-calf and so on. I love boots, which is why my OH bought me a new pair for Christmas. Unfortunately, they were not quite what I wanted. As space is at a premium on a boat, and because I tend not to keep stuff that I don’t 100% love, I decided to return them. After taking the Christmas boots back I found a gorgeous pair of animal print, rather elegant ankle boots on-line.
To be safe, I ordered a similar pair which would sit lower on the ankle.
Both arrived superfast from Moda in Pelle via Hermes. I love Hermes (and Myhermes) as they are convenient, inexpensive and efficient in my experience.
Trying both pairs on I simply couldn’t decide which to keep. Friends on SM said ‘both’ but…storage!!!
I decided to keep the Chelsea boot style for several reasons;
1. They sit lower on the ankle making my (short) legs look longer.
2. The sole has more ‘bite’ which means I’m less likely to slip – a key benefit when you live on a boat.
3. They will be fab for everyday wear as opposed to lunches/dinners/theatre trips.
4. I always wear my jeans outside of my boots so the detail on the ‘posher’ pair wouldn’t be visible anyway.
5. The elegant boots would have been first choice in my previous (corporate) life, but for boating/caravanning/casually-attired-me, the others seem a better fit all round.
Hey-ho, highs and lows, shedding a few tears on your own – so that nobody knows, making decisions, asking friends for advice, loving a bit of animal print…It’s just a girl thing!
Hugs,
Leigh
Note – I am dedicating this blog to a lovely, sparkly lady who passed away last night at the age of 47. I only heard of her death minutes before posting this blog, and feel privileged to have known and worked with Claire. Claire was my type of person – a party girl with a positive outlook. Very sad news that makes me want to remind us all, ‘Live today like it’s your last day on earth’.
