Lazy or wise?
We have been back in our cottage (a brick-built home) for a couple of weeks now; I’m wondering if I’ve grown lazy or wiser over the last five years.
When your home is also your mode of transport (as in a caravan and then a narrow boat) you spend very little time doing housework, zero time gardening and lots of time having fun.
Although we are finding the cottage ‘fun’ because we are able to entertain due to the amount of space and a great cooker, plus we are discovering ‘stuff’ we had forgotten we had ever owned, there appears to be an awful lot of time spent tidying up and cleaning – which I find totally boring. Who wants to clean floors, polish windowsills (which seem to attract dust like crazy) or garden – just because you need to keep the weeds down? Not me.
I am keeping going by focusing on the facts that we are going to completely re-configure the place next year and the garden is such that there is no point even thinking about doing anything till Autumn. I am still mourning the loss of all my lavender plants, my rare tree peony and my late dad’s sweet peas.
So…have I grown lazy? I am sure many of you contend with housework and gardening…have I grown wiser and realised that there is so much more to life than these two evil necessities?
What do you think?
Hugs
Leigh
