Best laid plans…
I’m a bit of a spontaneous person yet I do make plans; they just don’t always come to fruition.
Take today – only yesterday I planned go for a Trail Run with a group of friends at 9am, then perhaps go out for lunch with my O.H. after which I would clean the oven and paint some shelves in our home-office. Ha!
None of this happened: I woke up at 8.30am (late for me) decided to read my book for an hour instead of rushing to get to the Trail Run. I then showered and drove to Redditch Town Hall where a survivor of the Holocaust was speaking. Mindu Hornick’s (M.B.E) speech was emotive and humbling, evoking anger and a deep sadness in me.
How anyone can comprehend (or forgive) the cruelty those inhuman Nazi’s inflicted is beyond me. Mindu’s two ‘rules’ did resonate with me though.
1. Treat everyone as an equal – we are all humans after all.
2. Don’t turn a blind eye to injustice.
Leaving the Town Hall around 11.30am I drove through a car wash, picked up bacon for bacon sandwiches and went home for lunch. Once the sandwiches had been enjoyed and digested I changed into my running gear. I didn’t go for a run right away as I wanted the drizzle to become heavier in order to test out the new Ronhill waterproof, breathable running jacket I purchased yesterday at the National Running Show (held at the NEC).
As soon as I deemed the rain to be heavy enough I threw off my cardigan (much to the O.H’s amusement), twirled around once (a la superman), popped in my new wireless earphones and donned the jacket. I ran for around 3 miles after which my leggings and trainers were drenched, yet my top half was…bone dry. Yay! The waterproof is definitely waterproof so well worth the spend.
Since the run I have showered, cooked dinner, almost finished my book (Jane Eyre – a 1957 Edition I was given as a child but always worth re-reading) and made a few plans for the future – you’ll have to watch this space to find out what!
