Day 4 – Curfew – Friday 27 March 2020
Oh my…is it only day 4? Today hasn’t been so great to be perfectly honest.
The day started off o.k. I drove to my son and his partners as their washing-machine is awaiting a part so I am doing the odd wash for them!
Chatting to the grandchildren from a 2 metre distance was fun; they are quite comical. Isla, 3, told me she has given up her bedtime drink of hot-chocolate and her bedtime dummy so she is now, ‘An adult’. Katie, 8, told me she wants Daddy and Gemma (her step-mum) to have triplets now that Isla isn’t a baby anymore! Myles, 9, told me he doesn’t want any more babies in the house!
On the way home I stopped off to walk Martha in the woods, which was blissful. I didn’t see a soul.
I then bypassed a friends house to leave a small gift and birthday card in her porch; social-distancing is key right now!
Driving home I decided to video another 30 minute Pilates session to share with family and friends (mainly those I have been practicing on whilst doing the course). This way they can use it as a guide until they can get to a class in person.
Twice I got about 16 minutes into the class and the camera died on me. Not being technical I can’t work out if it is because the battery needs a full charge, or if my i-pad hasn’t enough room left for 30 minutes of videoing. It felt like quite the waste of a morning.
After lunch I tidied some of the garden waste away into a huge, huge bag and then tried to read a book. I struggled to read or focus on anything to be honest. When I am simply not physically busy enough, or don’t have the company of others, I struggle. It’s quite odd; if I am home-alone or walking/running alone I am fine but with my O.H. at home but doing his own thing in the office I find it tough.
I am very aware that there are a few jobs I can do but there are several jobs around the house and garden (and outbuildings) that I cannot tackle alone – and that is going to cause me a few challenges.
Around 5pm a friend of mine put out an SOS via messenger for a lift to A and E as her son had dislocated his leg. Luckily, at a very loose end, I could help so I willingly picked them up and took them to the Alexandra Hospital. It was quiet surreal to see the paramedics all masked up – I almost felt as though I were on the film set of some awful tragic futuristic film.
This evening I have spent writing…my rainbow after a pretty dull day!
Always looking for the pot of gold? That’s this Girls Thing!
