Home alone – 11 July 2018.
I’ve been home alone (actually caravan-alone) for over a week whilst my OH has been in Bulgaria.
Although I enjoy living with him (and I can tell you, living in the close proximity of a caravan/boat/caravan is not always easy) the time apart has been put to good use.
Whilst Tom has been away I’ve enjoyed a mini-break to Cornwall with three gorgeous grandchildren, my beautiful daughter and my crazy Mum.
Mum and I made stories up during the 6 hour journey home about certain members of our family who can morph into animals. The most hysterical laughter has been over the fact that my daughter, Cleo, is now totally believed to be able to turn into a (C)leopard – see how even her name is easily changed? Because she has a jaguar car (another fast-cat), and one of the g.children convinced herself that she heard Cleo purring in her sleep, the story became more believable. Wide-eyes and whispers were seen and heard in the back of the car whilst the story became a collaborative narrative. At one point g.daughter, Katie, told us, ‘I’ve seen Auntie Cleo on all fours, walking like a leopard’. Mum and I howled at that! Poor Cleo – or is it poor Cleopard?
Being a man-free area has resulted in many of my girlfriends visiting too; gifts of chocolate, strawberries, prosecco, flowers, cream cakes and a lovely strawberry and spinach salad have been delivered and consumed. I do have some amazing girlfriends and love them all. Conversations have covered just about everything from families to masters degrees to spa days and recipes. My last home-alone evening is this evening. I have opted to spend it taking my sister out for dinner. The Forest of Feckenham is a super gastro-pub and will be football-free (I don’t hate football but I’m only interested in the score TBH) so here’s to a good meal, a good old chat welcoming the OH back tomorrow!
Hugs,
Leigh
P.S. I have done a little editing (of a book that should have been published 2 years back) but nowhere near as much as intended…oops!
